Rebound - to gain possession of the ball after it has come off the backboard.
Referee - one of two or three officials in charge of a basketball game responsible for calling all violations.
Reject - when a player blocks a shot
Restraining circle - the two free throw circles and the center line. Ex. if a player is attempting a free throw no other player is allowed to enter the restraining circle until the ball hits a piece of the basketball equipment (basketball net, rim, or backboard)
Reverse dunk - A dunk that's made backward, over the shooter's head.
Reverse lay-up - a type of lay-up that is made after the shooter crosses under the basket to lay the ball in from the other side.
Rim - the metal rings that is attached to the backboard and holds the basketball net
Roll - to make a quick turning motion around the defender that is followed by a break to the basket.
Runner - to take a shot while running
Running jumper - a jump shot that is taken by a player while running.
