Offensive board - the backboard behind the basketball net that the team is aiming for
Offensive foul - A personal foul committed by an offensive player
Offensive rebound - A rebound of a teammate's shot, or of one's own shot.
Offensive team - the team that has possession of the ball
One-and-one - A free throw attempt awarded in certain situations in high school and college basketball in which the player gets a second free throw if the first attempt is successful.
One-on-one - a situation in which two opposing players confront one another with no assistance from teammates
Open shot - a shot that is taken by an undefended player.
OT - an acronym for overtime
Out of bounds - the area outside of the playing area. The ball is out of bounds when it touches the floor or any person or object that's out of bounds
Outlet pass - a pass that is made immediately after a defensive rebound
Outside shot - a shot that is taken from a distance
Over and back - when a team has brought the ball into the frontcourt then lets it return to the backcourt.
Over the limit - Descriptive of a team that has committed more fouls than allotted for a given period, thus putting the opposition in the bonus situation.
Overplay - when a player focuses on one side of an opponent being guarded. This is usually the player's best side, in order to force a move or shot from the other side.
Overtime - generally a five minute period played to decide the outcome of a game tied after regulation time. If at the end of these five minutes, the game is still tied, they get another overtime period.
