Air ball - a ball that literally flies through the air with seemingly no destination because it doesn't hit the basketball backboard, rim or net (basketball goal)
Alley-oop pass - a pass thrown by one teammate to another so that he/she may catch it in the air and score.
alternating-possession rule - a rule that states that teams take turns gaining possession for a throw-in after a held ball and similar stoppages of play when possession is in question. (a rule that takes place of a jump ball)
Assist - to pass the ball from one teammate to another so that he/she may make a shot.
